Instructional Practice: Standard #7

Standard #7: Planning for Instruction: The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.

Artifact #1

The artifact that I have selected for Standard #7 is a vocabulary activity for a 1st-grade lesson plan on Native American history.  For this vocabulary activity, I differentiated between three different ability levels for students.  In addition, in my lesson plan, I individualized instruction and assignment requirements for students in need of extra differentiation.  This demonstrates my understanding of this standard by showing how as a teacher I can plan instruction to support every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon various skills, content areas, and students' prior knowledge.
